About Us ...
Do you need something repaired or restored ?

Whether its aged or been worked hard , quality equipment does have a rebuild date.

Wear parts can need replacing, rust can take a hold and time can take a toll.

Making products takes skill but repairing products can require more skill than the original maker.

Hillside Metalfab provide a broad range of metal fabrication services to people on the land
to enhance their workplace productivity and efficiency. Our products and services rest upon
skilled and innovative craftsmanship and the use of quality , locally sourced materials.

One or our increasingly popular requests include rust repairs on Classic Acceptance (1950-1969) Modern Classic (1970-1989) and Grey Import, Japanese 4x4 and tourers.

Trade-trained as a fitter turner / machinist qualifying with a Trade Certificate
and Advanced Trade Certificate ,

Our experience has been acquired over many years in various industries including
earth-moving , transport , rural and production.

Body, chassis and restoration work
Touring vehicles become part of ones life and can store a lot of memories of great places visited and other places to head to next.

Over time equipment can fatigue and wear out, that does mot mean it is an end of life situation. Travelling to remote destinations can mean the vehicles endure some harsh enviromental conditions. Some of these can cause extra degradation of metal componets.
Some of the works carried out by Hillside metalfab on touring vehicles include rust repairs to chassis sections, windscreen surrounds and rusted body sections.
Repairs can be staged to keep the vehicle running and happy and your budget healthy.

Fabrication

Metal fabrication incorporates cutting, drilling, bending, shaping ( incl rolling) and welding metals to make the desired end result.
These functions can be performed on various metals so as to provide the best outcome for long term reliability.
Welding can be with mild steel, aluminium, silicon bronze, stainless steel and cast iron.
With the required end result in mind products will be designed to give the most suitable result required by you the end user and made from the most approiate materials or combination as demanded by the situation.

Structural and architectural steel
Structural steel may usually be recognised as shed frames.
But this can also be for pergolas, gazebos, shade houses, tiny homes and carports.
The design of these structures can incorporate square, rectangular, oval and round steel section as well as I-beam, T beam and other profiles of fabricated steel.
The geometry or the steelwork can include simple curves, complex curves, bends, and multi angle mitre frames.

Specialised welding
When most people think of welding it usually involves mild steel filler wire.
We can use a variety of welding wires depending on the best result needed.
These can include but are not limited to mild steel ,silicon bronze, stainless steel, hard facing and cast iron.
These can be chosen for strength, corrosion resistance and longevity of the finished product.

Production runs
At Hillside Metalfab we have machines suitable for the economical manufacturing of fabricated parts.
The advantages of ' locally made ' products include : -
-
better communication with the manufacturer for a more accurate representation of your requirements
-
shorter lead time due to less travel delays at ports and transport hubs.
-
Ability to come onsite to discuss your specific requirements to enable the most appropriate design and construction methods.

About .. ECHUNGA DAVE
Dave trained as a fitter turner machinist qualifying with trade certificate and advanced trade certificate where design was a large part of the advanced trade section.

Part of the training involved calculations and design for overhead cranes and gantries including suitable selection of structural members steel choice weld location weld sizes requirement for gussets design of supports manufacturing processes and usability of the completed project. Additional expertise was developed in the areas, including materials selection, machining , fabrication , repairs and rebuilds.

Time was also spent in the automotive machine and rebuild section where experience was gained in removal, disassembly, cleaning, measuring, machining, balancing, reassembly, instillation and testing of automotive engines of various sizes and capacities 4 cylinder to V8"s.

Significant experience & expertise has also been gained in the correct use, maintenance, servicing and repair of earth-moving machines, equipment and attachments.

There is always a requirement for specific attachments in the earth-moving industry and my experience in design and construction has been used to good effect in making attachments for multiple roles as well as single use items to improve safety for workers and clients
